The understanding of the Agentec Research Group (Work - Gender - Technology)
Our position is that the processes of social construction rather tan a specification of nature inform the assumptions of a person's membership of one sex, and also the binary coded relationships of gender as a social principle of differentiation and hierarchy. This gendering takes place everywhere: in family life, work relations, organizations, in the symbolisms of language and other cultural representations. Against this theoretical background we are concerned with the meaning of the category "sex" for structuring social processes, cultural standards and everyday interactive life. Therefore we include gender as a concrete category of analysis in all of our fields of research. Thus, gender research should be understood as cross sectional research and as a contribution to equal opportunities at the same time.
