Schiffbau (Naval Architecture)

  • ASIIN program overview

Three-year Bachelor of Science Course

Nowadays, 95 percent of world trade consists of goods carried by water, so ships are not merely means of transport, but the backbone of the global economy. A similar amount of know-how goes into a container ship as into an Airbus. Key technologies are employed in both. In view of the competition, the building of modern types of ships such as passenger boats and ro-ro ferries, container ships, mega-yachts and naval vessels requires a high degree of adaptability and prompt action. Scarcely any other city has been shaped by shipbuilding and shipping to the same extent as Hamburg, which boasts the world’s fifth largest port. The TUHH is the only German university to offer a self-contained Bachelor’s course in naval architecture. Consequently, students are introduced to the ship as a system at an early stage.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, you can continue your studies at the TUHH in:

–> Schiffbau und Meerestechnik (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering)
–> Internationales Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen (Industrial Engineering Management)

(Each a two-year Master of Science course)
