- Information and Communication Systems
Information and Communication Systems
Among the industries with the greatest growth rates is the communications industry which, over the years, has achieved in its products the synergy of the classical disciplines of computer science and networking. The master's program Information and Communication Systems addresses this rapidly evolving area by laying in-depth foundations for the design and implementation of networking infrastructures as well as for the applications running on it.
The program is organized as a two-year course (four semesters) which starts on 1st October each year. It includes two semesters of lectures and practical courses and two semesters devoted to work in a research team (project work) and to the preparation of a master’s thesis. The “Master of Science” degree will be awarded. Language of the program is English.
Joint European Master in Communication and Information Technologies (CIT)
Like to add some Italian flavour to TUHH’s Information and Communication Systems Master?
As from October 2008, a new international Master programme in Communication and Information Science (CIT) is offered jointly by TUHH in Germany, Politecnico di Torino in Italy and Aalborg Universitet in Denmark.
The TUHH part of the CIT programme has been created as an alternative to TUHH's international Master programme Information and Communication Systems. Thus, in CIT, TUHH targets mainly German students wishing more international exposure than in German taught programmes. International students are kindly invited to apply for ICS.
For students starting at TUHH, this programme uses the first two semesters of the well established local "Information and Communication Systems" Master programme as a base and then offers the choice to continue studies either in Torino or in Aalborg for the third semester (with the option to spend the fourth -- thesis -- semester as well at that university.
Lectures in the third semester in Torino or Aalborg have been selected among the broad offer of the partner universities in the respective field, in order to create an interesting alternative for TUHH students that not only provides intercultural experience but also adds value to their education in the domain of Information and Communication Technologies.
Links with Politecnico di Torino (PdT) are particularly close since this cooperation has been funded by the DAAD for a preparation year. TUHH is working to provide scholarships sponsored by the DAAD. If the application is successful, these scholarships have to be limited to German students (moving from TUHH to PdT in the second year of CIT), due to the regulations of the sponsor. It is hoped that TUHH can award these scholarships from Winter semester 2010/11 for TUHH students of German nationality who start the CIT programme in Winter semester 2009/10 and spend their second year for one or two semesters at PdT.
Deadline for admission to the programme: 31 May
