We, at the Accommodation Office TUHH, are here to support international students arriving in Hamburg from abroad in their accommodation search. If you are arriving directly from abroad and planning to complete a degree course at TUHH or you are visiting the TUHH on an exchange program, please contact us and we will see what we can do to help.
First of all it might be useful to find out something out about the accommodation situation in Hamburg in general. Accommodation in Hamburg is often neither cheap nor easy to find. Demand and availability vary greatly, according to the time of year. If you plan to arrive in Hamburg at the beginning of the winter semester, choice can be very limited.
Therefore it is often necessary to decide on your priorities and make some compromises (in terms of price, location, facilities etc.) in order to find a room for your arrival in Hamburg. Students can improve their chances of finding accommodation, suitable to their needs, by beginning their search for accommodation as early as possible (however not earlier than 6 months before their arrival in Hamburg!)
