How the Accommodation Office can help to find a room
When to approach us
It is advisable that your plans to study at TUHH are relatively concrete before you approach us. You should have been accepted on a course of study, be relatively sure about your finances, visa situation etc. and know which month you intend to arrive in. However it is usually necessary to approach us at least two months before your arrival in Hamburg in order to be able to find appopriate accommodation. As all offers are distributed on a first come, first served basis, it is in your best interests to begin your search for accommodation as early as possible, especially if you plan to arrive for the winter semester.
Application Procedure
If you wish to make contact with us now, please fill in an Accommodation Search Form (doc). The completed Accommodation Search Form should then be sent to the Accommodation Office TUHH.
This form enables us to get a clear picture of your requirements. When we have received your form, we will reply to you by email and advise you on the current accommodation situation and the type of accommodation which suits your needs best, according to availability.
After having sent us an Accommodation Search Form, it is essential that you are available by email. You will usually need to respond promptly and appropriately to an offer in order to get a room.
* Please note that Accommodation Office TUHH is only able to distribute offers subject to availability. We aim to treat applicants as fairly and as equally as possible. This means that at times when many people are applying, priority in the distribution process will be given to applicants who have not yet received an offer.
* Please note that the acceptance of an offer should be considered binding for both parties i.e. the landlord / landlady and the applicant.
