Studying Abroad for TUHH Students

Time spent in another country is a great benefit for every student. It is not only an addition to your resume but also promotes your personal development. Many students say, after a visit abroad, that dealing with another culture, another language and, last not least, the educational system in another country, was in their opinion and experience greatly enriching.
Time spent abroad can be utilized in many ways. You can attend lectures or language courses, work on your studies or your diploma thesis, or serve an internship.
Scholarships are available for many kinds of study abroad. To meet the application deadlines and make full use of the extensive information that is available you should start planning in good time – a year to a year and a half before you intend to leave.
The first question, of course, is where to go. If you plan to take up studies in your subject or to serve an internship, you should be guided in your choice of host country by the languages you speak. You must not only be able to follow lectures and courses but capable of expressing yourself in speech and writing on course-related topics. What is more, speaking the language adequately is often essential to enable you to take part in everyday life in your host country.
