Student Counseling

The Student Counseling Service provides information and advice for prospective TUHH students and school students on the following topics:

  • Basic information about courses at the TUHH 
  • Choosing a course, deciding what to study 
  • Applying for a place and starting your studies
  • Preparing to study and study requirements
  • Conditions and course of studies
  • Any other issues and topics that are important to you

For information on counseling sessions for prospective students please contact the Infothek

and for TUHH students throughout their studies:

  • Orientation on course of studies (curricula, examination regulations, etc.) 
  • Academic work techniques for students, optimizing your personal style of work 
  • Individual study planning after illness, pregnancy, etc. 
  • Preparing for exams, examination stress
  • Preparing for a career / coaching 
  • Switching your degree course, guidance on alternative courses
  • Dropping out
  • Social and financial issues that affect your studies
  • Psychological counseling on personal issues and problems 
  • Any other issues and topics that are important to you

Consultation hours (for TUHH students):

During the consultation hours at the Student Counseling Center we take time to answer your questions. If necessary, further individual counseling sessions can be arranged in addition to the consultation hours.

Registration for consultation hours (for TUHH students):

Tuesday and Thursday 1 pm - 2 pm

Please show up personally at the Infothek for registering for the consultation hours and please allow for some queueing time in case of great demand for counseling.

Counseling sessions during the consultation hours take place on Tuesday and Thursday between 2 pm and 4 pm.

Subject-specific counseling:

Subject-specific information on the respective course contents and the fields of employment is available for students and prospective students from the responsible subject-specific counselors for the Bachelor-, Master- and Diplomingenieur programs at TUHH.
