PhD-theses. Furthermore the modules shall be useable for students via
internet.
Activity 2.1:
Specialized Teaching Module "Waste Management Inventory":
The module will be developed by TUHH. It allows an easy collection of all
relevant data which are necessary for the development of waste management
concepts. The inventory scheme aims to simplify the collection, because it
contains all necessary key aspects in form of a ”questionnaire”.
The list prevents that important information might not be considered.
Relevant topics of the list are e.g. general data, demography, climate,
vegetation, topography, land use, infrastructure, economy, religion, culture,
languages, media, politics, ecology, problems and hazards, waste management
issues (laws & regulations, amount & composition of waste, collection
& transport, treatment & disposal), waste water and drinking water.
The list ensures the possibility to compare initial situations in different
countries or cities because of considering the same parameters.
Furthermore the programme shall give hints how and where to find information
about the needed parameters. Useable sources for getting information in the
internet shall be identified, evaluated and integrated.
The module will also include a kind of lexicon where all parameters are
described and their need for waste management issues will be explained.
Activity 2.2:
Specialized Teaching Module "Disposal and Landfilling in Industrialized
and in Economically Developing Countries":
The module will be developed by UNIPD. Processes and concepts for sustainable
landfilling, siting and emission control will be presented considering the
feasibility of an appropriate technology transfer to Asian countries with
regard to supply of materials and costs in form of a e-book with interactive
constituents.
Activity 2.3: Specialized Teaching
Module "Composting in Economically Developing Countries":
The module will be developed by TUHH. It will be a kind of guide-tool for
planning a composting facility. It includes planning examples, categorization
of regions, information and data, characterization of the situation, planning
steps, interactive parts (e.g. technologies, dimensions, times) and a
question-module.
The programme shall allow students to plan a composting facility and its
operation modes for different regional cases and for a variety of boundary
conditions. A catalogue of common questions and problems will be contained to
provide help.
Activity 2.4:
Specialized Teaching Module "Virtual Waste Management Facility":
The module will be developed by TUHH. Aim is the establishment of
PC-programme which contains general knowledge of composting under
consideration of e.g. economical, cultural, geographical, infrastructural and
political aspects in Asian countries. The programme shall allow students to
get general information about composting and to plan a composting facility
and its operation modes for a certain regional case (situation-adapted
facilities). Planning examples for different typical cases in developing
countries resp. in newly industrializing countries shall be acquired. A
catalogue of common questions and problems will be contained to provide help.
Activity 2.5:
Specialized Teaching Module "Urban Waste Management":
The module will be developed by AIT. It shall be an e-game which simulates
the following parameters: Waste generation, collection and transportation,
waste processing and transformation, the final disposal, the pollution and
health aspects and the selection of technologies.
Activity 3: Creation of Structures
for the Application of Teaching Modules and for Mutual Teaching
To allow the
application of the teaching modules developed in activity 1 and 2 structures
for their use in the respective universities and in mutual teaching have to
be created.
Activity 3.1:
Structuring of Teaching Possibilities:
Each participant university has a structure for waste management and / or for
environmental education which is more or less developed. The partners have to
be informed about the structure and teaching contents of the others in detail
if mutual teaching projects shall be carried out. Therefore all partners will
use the same questionnaire for evaluation of present structures so that there
is a comparison possible.
Activity 3.2:
Documentation of Experimental Facilities:
Each department is expert in certain research areas and has several
experimental facilities which can be used for the education of students and
for research. The partners have to be informed about the facilities of the
others if mutual teaching projects shall be carried out. Therefore all
partners will use the same questionnaire for evaluation of present structures
so that there is a comparison possible.
Activity 3.3:
Agreements between the Universities :
It is planned to establish bilateral and multilateral agreements for
co-operations in form of memorandums of agreement between all partner
universities. It shall bring forward the students and staff exchange between
Europe and Asia.
Activity 3.4: Establishment of new
Courses:
New teaching materials shall be developed which consider the
internationalisation of education.
