Mechatronics

In the past, innovations in mechanical engineering and in electronics have accelerated the progress of many technological advances, and this will happen at an even faster rate in the foreseeable future. On the one hand, these innovations open up opportunities in almost every conceivable attempt of society to improve the quality of life. On the other hand, they also open up significant operational and managerial challenges, as industries world-wide shift into higher gear in production technologies of both hardware and software. The development of these new high technologies has given birth to the academic interdisciplinary field of Mechatronics. Mechatronics provides new insights into an integrated consideration of mechanics, electronics and computer science.

The program is organized as a two-year course (four semesters) which starts on 1st October each year. It includes two semesters of lectures and practical courses and two semesters devoted to work in a research team (project work) and to the preparation of a master's thesis. The "Master of Science" degree will be awarded. Language of the program is primarily English. Some of the lectures are given in German.
