Students
Learning German at the TUHH
Intensive and Preliminary Courses
For new students on international Bachelor and Master courses and exchange students we offer a 75-lesson preliminary course before the start of each year’s winter semester. At present, students are required to pay a financial contribution of € 100. In the case of exchange students, this contribution is generally paid by the program or the home university.
In summer 2010 the TUHH will for the first time offer summer courses in German in collaboration with its cooperation partner Interkulturelle Bildung Hamburg (IBH e.V.). Further information is given here.
Courses during the semester
TUHH offers all students and members courses in German as a Foreign Language during the semester. These are attendance courses with e-learning modules and take place on 13 dates during the teaching period. To enroll for these courses, students must take an online grading test. Each course is worth 4 ECTS credits. Courses are free of charge.
For students on international Master programs, special, obligatory Master courses in German are offered. These take place in 13 dates during the teaching period. Each course is worth 4 ECTS credits. Courses are free of charge.
The Literature and Culture offer and supplementary bridging course is geared to all interested students and members of the TUHH. Together with international students, leading German-language writers are read and current topics discussed in their cultural context. This gives rise to a forum of cultures in mutual encounter at the TUHH. Plays, films, exhibitions, and discussion groups give additional impetus to the dialog.
Each course is worth 4 ECTS credits. Courses are free of charge.
Please see the Online University Calendar for course dates and venues.
