The foci of the Institute of Communication Networks currently are in the area of

• heterogeneous networks
• ad-hoc and sensor networks
• mobile communication
• future internet

In all areas we are investigating the performance, we optimize the networks, we investigate and design new architecture and services and we also consider and demonstrate exciting applications, such as emergency management, vehicular communication, logistics and others.

Planning and optimization continues to be an important research area at the Institute of Communication Networks.
