Future Internet

Today's Internet is crucial for today's private and commercial activities. But can the Internet with its over 30 year old protocols still satisfy the demands of future applications and services? Can sensor networks with billions of devices be connected to and addressed by today's Internet architecture? Can the  increasing amount of real time gaming, multimedia and conversational services be served with acceptable quality-of-services?

These questions are addressed

Network virtualization might allow a coexistence of existing IP based Internet with new approaches on a common hardware.

General architectures, network virtualisation, routing and connectivity in the Future Internet are addressed at the Institute of Communication Networks. The focus is on the integration of mobility and mobile communication networks into the Future Internet.
