Content:

The course will give future engineers the scientific background needed to understand the mechanical properties of advanced ceramics. Emphasis is placed on the application of this knowledge to the selection and design of ceramic components for advanced engineering applications.

  • Elasticity / Strength
  • Sub-critical crack growth
  • Thermal shock behaviour/ Creep
  • Interface properties / Toughening mechanisms
  • Non-destructive testing
