6th Graduation ceremony on the campus of the TUHH - 25.06.2010

On 25th June 2010, Graduation ceremony of TUHH for the year 2009/2010 was conducted with similes on face, meet with the professors, university staff, honourable guests, friends and families. 183 of 300 graduates of the year 2009/2010 were awarded with the 'Urkunde' (certificate) and a souvenir from TUHH, as they became alumni of this elite university. The ceremony took place in the largest lecture hall of university 'Audimax I', the same hall in which the most of the students attended their very first introductory speech when they entered the university.

The president of TUHH, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil Edwin Kreuzer, welcomed the more than 600 guests in the main auditorium - including Hamburg's Senator for Science Dr. Herlind Gundelach and citizenship Member Karin Koop (CDU) and August Henningsen, CEO of Lufthansa Technik AG and member of the TUHH University Council - and congratulated the Future engineers to success. Even keynote speaker Dr.-Ing. Hermann Klein, Member of the Executive Board of Germanischer Lloyd AG, presented a cheerful speech "Engineering - Quo vadis?"

During the ceremony, the choir of 'TUHH SINGING' filled the auditorium's atmosphere with their incredibly joyful songs. The ceremony follows with photographs taken as one of the best memories of the event and refreshments/snacks in the Mensa.

Adarsha Kanchana is the only university graduate to the DAAD-winners meeting in Berlin

Adarsha Kanchana from the Northern Institute of Technology Management (NIT) at the TU Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH) who belongs to the exclusive circle of 20 chosen award-winners from the Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes (DAAD) was chosen to be a guest at the Chancellery on the 6th of May and to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel. The aspiring Technology Manager was the only one to represent the Hamburg Universities and to partake in the political and cultural agenda on the 5th and 6th of May in the capital of Germany with the main highlight being the visit to the Chancellery. Within the framework of the traditional DAAD award ceremony, which took place in Berlin for the second consecutive year, the foreign graduates of German universities met with representatives of the Foreign Office and members of the German Parliament. Parallel to the award ceremonies, the DAAD conference with the theme "Borders and Border Crossings" took place. Adarsha Kanchana, whose studies were sponsored by Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co. KG, an industrial partner of the NIT, was one of 200 DAAD award winners for the year 2009. Each year the DAAD award goes to those foreign students who have exhibited distinguished academic and social performance. Adarsha Kanchana will shortly be graduating from the Germany-wide unique dual degree program offered by the NIT and TUHH. He is enrolled in the Micro-Electronic study program at the TUHH and is striving for a master of Business Administration at the NIT. Despite the dual challenge of finishing two programs of study within a short time, the student found time for a significant social engagement: Kanchana belongs to the founding members of the Indian Students Association at the TUHH, which not only addresses the needs of the students, but also works to improve the education of slum-children in New Delhi. Furthermore, he founded the Kanchana Foundation in which he invested the prize money received from the DAAD award to initiate its start. As the oldest son of a teacher he aims to utilize this foundation to provide under-privileged children with the opportunity to attend schooling. Additionally, during an internship at the Patriotic Society Hamburg he was able to learn of and alleviate the troubles of life for the homeless and run-aways in the Hansa-City. Kanchana was 200 DAAD-winners of 2009 chosen from. The DAAD Prize foreign students every year their academic and special social services excellent.
