General information for using the Computer Pools 3 (Linux)

The UNIX pool is to be used according to its purpose only for teaching and research, education and science.

The 60 workstations (WSs) are operated under the RedHat-Linux and Ubuntu-Linux operating system. Unlike personal computers (PC) the WSs have been developed for teamworking. Under UNIX several users working on different tasks simultaneously (multiuser, multitasking) at different places in the world is possible. Switching off the WSs is therefore forbidden.
