For further research with artificial intelligence and mobile automonous robots
the simulation software developed during my thesis is continously beeing
extended and improved.
Since several interesting scenarios for research in autonomous mobile robots
and related artificial intelligence are very expensive to realize, a simulator is
a useful addition to the "Selforganizing Robot System
because it has - compared to the real world - almost no limitation to the number of used
robots and the size of the environment.
Furthermore you have greater debugging capabilities and the ability to switch off
disturbing effects like sensor inaccuracies during development to concentrate on
the main problem rather than compensating errors. Some of the interesting information
ist also much easier to "measure" and record in a simulation than in the real world
where this would require very complex sensory or is even impossible.
To (hopefully) speedup the development of the software I made it open source.
