The Accommodation Office supports international exchange students and degree students in hunting for accommodation.

 

Accommodation in the current situation of Covid19 in Germany

 

Information for international exchange students, who won´t study at TUHH in the Summer Semester 2020 and who would like to cancel their rental agreement of their Freshman Room:

Please note, that you can cancel your rental agreement for the Freshman Room by 31 March 2020. If you will cancel your rental agreement after 31 March 2020, you have to pay the rent for April. For further details, please contact us: accommodation@tuhh.de.

In case that you will rent private accommodation, please contact the landlord/landlady asap.

Information for international exchange students, who have studied at TUHH in the current winter semester and cannot travel back to their home countries:

In case that the rental agreement of your Freshman Room will end on 31 March 2020, please contact the Accommodation Office, if you would like to extend your rental agreement.

In case that you rent private accommodation, please contact the landlord/landlady asap.

If you are in need of new accommodation, please contact the Accommodation Office: accommodation@tuhh.de.

 

International students can apply for two accommodation services:

  • Rooms: Freshman Room in one of the student residence halls of our partner Studierendenwerk Hamburg and private room (locals offer rooms directly to us).
  • help and support in finding private accommodation

Rooms

The application for a Room is through our portal Mobility Online.


Freshmen Rooms

  • In coopeation with our partner Studierendenwerk Hamburg, the Accommodation Office offers prospective international students a limited number of rooms in the student residence halls in Hamburg for one or two semesters.
  • Freshmen rooms are fully furnished single rooms in apartment units of 2-6 students, with a shared kitchen and bathroom.
  • The monthly rent of a freshman room is 325 €, including all running costs and additional charges. Exceptions are possible. 
  • The rental period is limited to a maximum of 12 months. (i.e. 2 semesters, always starting in September).
    If you would like to rent from the summer semester onwards, you can only rent the freshman room from April until the end of August.

Private Rooms

  • Private Rooms are offered by locals directly to us.
  • Private Rooms are located in Hamburg and the surrounding area.
  • The rent per month depends on the district, furnished or not, shared kitchen and bathroom. The rent per month is between 300 € and 500 €.

Please note, that there is a high number of applications for Rooms every year. Therefore we recommend you to apply as early as possible!

Help and Support in finding accommodation

For help and support in finding accommodation, you apply through our portal Mobility Online.

In case that you have missed the application period for rooms, you can apply for help and support in finding accommodation. We will send you information about how to find accommodation in Hamburg. If there is any offer for private accommodation, we will contact you.

The Accommodation Office is no agency and can only offer a limited number of private accommodation. For this reason, we recommend you to hunt for a room by yourself, too.

Online application for Rooms & Help and Support in finding private accommodation

Note: Prospective international students of TUHH can only apply for a room in a student residence hall of Studierendenwerk Hamburg through the Accommodation Office during the application period.

Online-application for prospective, nominated EXCHANGE students

  1. If you are already registered as a user in Mobility-Online and have already applied as an Erasmus or overseas exchange student for the upcoming semester,

    1. Please follow this link to fill out and send the Online-form for the rooms application. Please use the same email address as you sent us for the first application in Mobility-Online!

    2. You will receive an email with information where you have to re-login to Mobility-Online. Use the link provided in the email and use the same username and password for login.

    3. In Mobility-Online on the left side menu, under "My Application Data", click "Selection of the used application". You'll see your exchange student application and your rooms application.

    4. Put a check mark behind the rooms application and click the button "select application".

    5. You'll see the workflow for your rooms application. Please complete all required steps to complete your rooms application.

  2. If you are not registered in Mobility-Online,

    1. Please follow this link to fill out and send the Online-form for the rooms application.

    2. You will receive an email asking you to register as a user in Mobility-Online.

    3. Follow the link provided in the email, choose a user name and password to register as a user.

    4. You will receive a registration confirmation with a different link to access your rooms application in Mobility-Online.

    5. Follow the new link to re-login to Mobility-Online in order to complete your rooms application.

    6. On the left side menu, under "My Application Data", click "Selection of the used application". You'll see your rooms application in the centre field. Click on the application to see the workflow for your application - with all still open steps.

    7. Please complete all required steps to complete your application.

Online-application for prospective, international BACHELOR & MASTER students

  1. Please follow this link to fill out and send the Online-form for the rooms application. This is the first step of your online application for the accommodation services.

  2. You will receive an email asking you to register as a user in Mobility-Online.

  3. Follow the link provided in the email, choose a user name and password to register as a user.

  4. You will receive a registration confirmation with a different link to access your application in Mobility-Online.

  5. Follow the new link to re-login to Mobility-Online in order to complete your application.

  6. On the left side menu, under "My Application Data", click "Selection of the used application". You'll see your rooms application in the centre field. Click on the application to see the workflow for your application.

  7. Please complete all required steps to complete your application for rooms.
