The Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is an international university situated on its own compact campus in the Hamburg metropolitan region. It is committed to Humboldt’s educational ideal wherein research and teaching are intertwined. The TUHH sees its graduates as shapers of the future and thereby attaches special importance to them. They shape future technologies on a sound professional basis, assume social and ecological responsibility and take an interdisciplinary approach to their work.
Professionality, responsibility and interdisciplinarity are the three key educational objectives that the TUHH always has in mind in conceiving, implementing and further developing its educational offerings. These offerings set different priorities. Viewed as a whole, they form the foundation on which our students can develop as they progress along the course of their education.

Studying at TUHH brings numerous educational offerings, ranging from introductory courses for young scholars just beginning their studies, to life-long learning opportunities. On this route TUHH promotes continuous and long-term support for its students to enable them to learn sustainably and acquire comprehensive competencies with a focus on teaching excellence. In this way TUHH strives to imbue its graduates with the first-class professional and social competencies they need to attract excellent job opportunities upon graduation and a socially and ecologically oriented influence on our common future thereafter.

Nationwide Acclaim and Successes
In recent years TUHH has received nationwide acclaim for its university-wide strategies and innovative teaching measures. In 2014 the “Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft” funded the “mytrack” pilot concept that facilitates individual study routes to the Bachelor’s degree as part of its innovative entry-level study phase program. In 2015 the Science Council (Wissenschaftsrat) praised the Center for Teaching and Learning (ZLL) as being “exemplary for the quality assurance of its teaching”. In 2017 the Open Topic subproject from the Interdisciplinary Bachelor-Project, undertaken in cooperation with the Hamburg Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted, received the Stifterverband’s accolade as the University Pearl of the Year. In 2018 the “Excellent Teaching Partnership” network was founded. Members of the network are, in addition to the TUHH, the ETH Zurich and the TU Munich.
TUHH’s success is also reflected in numerous national and international rankings. In the 2018 Times Higher Education (THE) Young University rankings the TUHH came 67th out of 250 participating universities. In the Teaching category the TUHH even came 26th worldwide. In the 2018 CHE rankings the TUHH was among the best with some of its Bachelor and Master study programs. It was, in particular, rated Very Good in the categories International Alignment, Assistance for First Semesters, Equipment and Infrastructure. TUHH has also attained top grades in the U-Multirank world university rankings, performing especially well in the category Study and Teaching.
