OUREL: Optimal Utilization of Renewable Energies in Low Voltage (LV) Power Distribution Systems

Decentralized electric power generation in the low voltage (LV) distribution gird is becoming increasingly necessary as large power plants start to get phased out. To comply with the operational limits of LV grids, sophisticated power management algorithms have to be integrated. Such algorithms need to gather measurements and issue control messages throughout the network, necessitating a high speed and highly reliable communication network. The Institute of Communication Networks together with the Institute of Electrical Power and Energy Technology addresses these problems in their OUREL project.
