Wenjing Lu is associate professor at the Institute of Solid Waste Management, School of Environment, at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. She is a member of International Waste Working Group (IWWG); member of China Environmental Science Society and member of Chinese Association of Energy and Environment High Tech Industry.
Dr. Lu has developed succe ssful research, teaching careers in solid waste management in the past 1 2 years. She has received around 15 million RMB ($ 2.5 million) in research grant
funding she is holding or has held more 20 projects. During her career, she has authored or co authored more than 100 journal papers, conference papers, and technical report
publications (36 peer reviewed journal papers published in the past 5 years). Dr. Lu ’s research interests relate to microbial process and carbon cycle in solid waste
management system including: composting, anaerobic digestion and land filling of organic waste, bioenergy production from biomass waste CH4 carbon turn over in landfill cover soil,
and LCA on solid waste management. She currently leads a research team consisting of one research assistant and eight graduate students (4 PhD candidates, 3 MSc candidates). Her
current teaching responsibilities include courses for foreign students in Integrated Solid Waste Management, Biomass and biomass energy. She was part of the team that established the framework for the foreign students’ courses in the School of Environment, Tsinghua University. Besides teaching and research work, Dr. Lu is also very active in national and international teaching and research work, Dr. Lu is also very active in national and international societies.
